Senior Software Engineer
- Remote
- New York, New York, United States
Job description
High Roller Technologies is expanding into the rapidly evolving regulated prediction markets space — a major new growth area for the business. We’re building a consumer-facing prediction markets platform for the US market and are looking for talented people to join us as we build and scale the product.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product & Technology team as we build and launch our prediction markets platform in the US. This is a senior, hands-on development role, working closely with Product, Design, QA and other engineers to build and improve the technology behind the ROLR customer experience. You will own features end to end across our iOS and Android app using React Native and our web app using SvelteKit, while helping set the technical standard for the team. You will contribute across the development lifecycle, from understanding product requirements and designing solutions through to development, testing, release and ongoing improvement.
Job requirements
Design, develop and maintain features across the ROLR prediction markets platform, spanning the React Native iOS and Android app and the SvelteKit web app.
Turn product requirements and designs into reliable, production-ready software.
Contribute to key customer journeys including onboarding, account management, market discovery, trading and account activity.
Build and maintain backend-for-frontend (BFF) API routes and third-party integrations required to support the product.
Work closely with Product, Design and QA throughout the development process.
Collaborate with other engineers on technical solutions and implementation decisions.
Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
Mentor less experienced engineers and lead technical design discussions for larger pieces of work.
Identify and resolve technical issues throughout development and in production.
Support testing, releases and troubleshooting when required.
Consider performance, reliability, security and scalability when developing new functionality.
Contribute to the continued development of ROLR's technology platform as the product and business grow.
You’ll Need To
Have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years shipping production mobile or web front ends in TypeScript.
Have strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production applications.
Have a track record of owning features end to end, from technical design through release and production support.
Have experience building and shipping iOS and Android apps with React Native and Expo, including Expo Router, EAS builds, over-the-air updates and App Store / Play Store releases.
Have experience building web applications with Svelte and SvelteKit, including server-side rendering and backend-for-frontend API routes. Strong experience in a comparable framework such as React, Next.js or Vue, with a willingness to work in Svelte, will also be considered.
Have strong TypeScript skills, with experience in client state and data-fetching patterns such as TanStack Query and Zustand, and utility-first styling with Tailwind CSS and NativeWind.
Have experience working with REST APIs, real-time data over WebSockets or server-sent events, and third-party SDKs such as identity (OIDC), KYC and payment providers.
Have experience with automated testing such as Jest, React Native Testing Library, Vitest or Playwright, as well as CI/CD pipelines and code review.
Be able to work effectively with Product, Design, QA and other engineers.
Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently when required.
Be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where products and priorities continue to evolve.
Be comfortable with backend fundamentals, including querying databases and understanding how services interact beyond the BFF layer. Full-stack experience is not required.
Have at least a basic understanding of Kafka and Redis; hands-on experience is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience in fintech, trading, financial services, gaming or another transaction-based digital product.
Experience working on products involving real-time data or financial transactions.
